It all began with the Leventhorpe School in 2013...
A very dear friend of mine who teaches at a School in Sawbridgeworth
UK. asked me to come and do a speaking presentation to her students in
early 2013. I had not spoken to students for over 3 years and I was not
very sure of myself.
I had just been let go of my job after having a serious injury occur on the job, knocking me out of employment. It was gratifying to get any offer to speak like this at such a time.
I told the students then how I felt I was not at my best and I
apologized for not being as sharp as I was doing this. The event itself
went really well and I was blown away by all of the rousing support. I
then went on to do other schools and other speaking in 2013. Each time I
continued to work to be better at this.
This week I am being
invited back to this school. So much has changed for me in between the
last time I was there and now that I am overjoyed with sharing it all
with these students.I want to show this one school how much they mean to
me in how I do this.
So, for a week now, I have sat alone signing
books with different positive messages attached in them. I am also
offering my books to the students at basically my own cost of buying
them as well. I do not care about making any money from this one. I have
spent time at Hyde Park again practicing my speaking efforts as well. I
am going all out for this one school for a reason.
They believe
what I have done is the right way to go forth. This is my home team,
they are the ones who got me back on my feet and doing what I love best.
I have made more of an effort for this one school than any other
because that is my only way to truly show loyalty and respect for this
chance.
I will go this Thursday with my first book ready and signed
for every student, and I will do my best to show them how much they
inspire me. That is is all I can do. I will be there early, I will stay
late, and in between I will do whatever I can to show how I am motivated
and I am inspired to go on because of this school. If I can feel this
way about their place of education, then it is my hope that this makes
them as genuinely fond of this place as I am.
So, to all of you who
are awaiting my efforts this week, I promise you that this one will be
special. This one will be my thank you to all of the UK students over
the past 7 years who heard me when I came and spoke at their school.
I know how important you as my audience are in ways that no one else
can fathom. It truly has been and will be and honor to speak before you.
With love,
Nick Yarris
